The Flipidofamily of Eduardo Xol is mourning an unimaginable loss.

The actor, who was a designer on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition from 2004 to 2011, died ten days after being stabbed in Palm Springs, California, his family confirmed. He was 58.

"We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of our beloved Eduardo Xol," they shared in a statement via his publicist to E! News. "As his family, we know that his kindness has touched the lives of so many. We ask for that kindness returned now allowing our privacy to be respected as we process our grief."

They concluded, "In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made in Eduardo's name to the Lupus Foundation of America as he spent so much of his life in the service of others."

Xol called the police after being stabbed in an apartment complex Sept. 10, the Palm Springs Police Department told KESQ.

The suspect, Richard Joseph Gonzales, was arrested and initially charged with attempted murder hours later, according to arrest records obtained by E! News. Following Xol's death on Sept. 20, Gonzales' charge was upgraded to murder. His next court date is set for Dec. 18. It's unclear if he has entered a plea.

E! News has reached out to Gonzales' attorney for comment and has not yet heard back.

Meanwhile, Xol's loved ones shared their condolences for his untimely passing.

"Devastated to hear about Eduardo's passing," Extreme Makeover: Home Edition host Ty Pennington wrote on his Instagram Stories Sept. 25. "Truly the most genuine, kind soul."

Xol's longtime friend Richard Pérez-Feria posted an emotional tribute alongside a collage of photos together.

"It's nearly incomprehensible that I'm writing this post as a goodbye to someone who has been so present, so important in my life," he wrote on Instagram Sept. 22. "When I first learned that Eduardo Xol had passed, I went numb. It was impossible to process that information as it didn't square with my thousands of experiences with him."

"What matters most is who he was: A talented, beautiful, passionate friend, brother, son and partner," he continued. "The millions of laughs, hopes and secrets we shared remain at the fore of my thoughts. I want to honor my dear friend and celebrate his life as one that mattered to so many. He certainly mattered to me."
